8th day: Day trip to Boston

Since Boston was only a 2 hours drive from Rocky Hill, we paid a visit to that great city. We started our sightseeing on the famous Harward University. The university was established in 1636 by the Massachusetts legislature and is the oldest institution of higher learning in the United States.

The university comprises eleven separate academic units—ten faculties with 20000 students. Harvard's 210-acre main campus is centered on Harvard Yard in Cambridge, approximately 3.4 miles (5.5 km) northwest of downtown Boston. We went there and participated on tour for people interested in to study here.

Harvard has the largest university endowment in the world. As of September 2011, it had nearly regained the loss suffered during the 2008 recession. It was worth $32 billion last year.
I also managed to gave a lecture, nevertheless only to my sister.

After that we moved over to down-town Boston, with its famous Quincy Market and skyscrapers with hidden historic buildings. Compared to New York Boston is much smaller and has more contrast, because of the old and modern buildings mixed around the city.

Anyway the first European settlement was founded here in 1630, which at that time they called 3 mountains. Today Boston has an estimated population of 626000, making it the 21st largest city in the United State.
We had a great time there, good food, nice walks and two parking fines worth 100USD.
