1st day: Just arrived in Singapore

Yesterday, when we left I was very optimistic about Emirates and our upcoming flight. Well, in Dubai we missed our connecting flight and cued at the transfer desk for 3 hours to get things settled. At the end instead of a direct flight Dubai-Singapoore, we got a ticket via Colombo/Sri Lanka to Singapore. To make a long story short, we arrived in Singapoore after a 23 hour journey, 7 hours later than expected.

Still Judit enjoyed the stay at Dubai airport.

According to Wikipedia:
Singapore is an island country made up of 63 islands just some 130km north of the equator. It has 6 million habitants on 710km2.  Singapore hosted a trading post of the East India Company in 1819 with permission from the Sultanate of Johor.  Thomas Stamford Raffles arrived and signed a treaty with Sultan Hussein Shah of Johor on behalf of the British East India Company to develop the southern part of Singapore as a British trading post. In 1824, the entire island became a British possession.
Singapore has the world's highest percentage of millionaires, with one out of every six households having at least one million US dollars in disposable wealth. This excludes property, businesses, and luxury goods, which if included would further increase the number of millionaires, especially as property in Singapore is among the world's most expensive

Just after dropping off our laguages in our hotel, we went to Chinatown to explore the night market and to look for some street food. It was crispy squid with fried rice on the menu.

Later on walking along the promenade, we checked out the offers of some other restaurants and passed by some luxury hotels.

Before returning to our 8m2 hotel room in Chinatown, we checked out the skyline around the harbour, including the famous Marina Bay Sands Hotel. There supposed to be an infinity pool on the top, connecting the 3 towers.
