The recent favorite Dubai

I left yesterday for a long trip going to Japan and Taiwan. As Emirates was the cheapest carrier and Dubai became one of my favorites recently, it was an obvious choice to make stopover here.

Compared to my first visit more than 3 years ago a lot changed. Constructions are still going on, new restaurants open, more and more options are offered to have fun spend money and to have a great time for short stopover or for a whole week.

My favourite neighbourhoods are the Marina and the new down-town. Both of them offer endless shopping and culinary possibilities.
The Burj Khalifa is still the highest building on the world, but in Saudi Arabia there is a project already in progress aiming to reach 1km. It is mad.... In Burj Khalifa, recently a new experience was introduced. That far you could go as high as 450m, but since the beginning of this year for an extra 70EUR / person you can go up to 550m and have free cup of tee. You also have your personal guide and you can sit down and relax short in one of the luxury suits situated on floors  125-145.

There are also things frozen in time. This Porsche is parked at the same spot already since my first visit.

Shops in the old town are still filled with gold, but this is just huge. 160kg gold bar selling for 6 million EUR.

Tomorrow I am flying to Tokyo.
